Job Summary:

Provides technical/production support and expertise for critical infrastructure services to Federal Reserve business functions and mission critical financial applications. It supports an enterprise multi-platform environment that requires disciplines following ITIL methodologies. The technical discipline includes UNIX, Linux and associated infrastructure management and security software, tools and utilities. Performs production support tasks including health check, hardware and software maintenance, configurations, and troubleshooting. Senior level position requires a seasoned professional with a full understanding of industry practices. Requires high level of experience and proficiency in field.

  • Principal Duties and

    Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for performing complex activities associated with Operating Systems Support.
  2. Assist in implementation of infrastructure tools such as Patrol, NetBackup and Commvault.
  3. Working knowledge of performing installations and Fixpack updates of Middleware software including Red Hat JBOSS and IBM WebSphere and MQ.
  4. Support Markets business applications including deployments, upgrades and testing.
  5. Performs complex infrastructure support tasks, maintenance, configuration and management to optimize 3PAR storage services.
  6. Develops/tests/documents processes and procedures of upgrades and patches and validates results.
  7. Provides guidance and recommendations to clients and senior engineers by understanding requirements and engineering solutions.
  8. Conducts technology research, recommends solutions and designs and provides technical direction the production support tasks.
  9. Directs project activities to support major infrastructure or application projects. Participates in workgroups who evaluate, build, test and coordinate the implementation of product solutions.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge pertaining to concepts and principles in functional area. General knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and / or System operations, policies, procedures and technologies.

Communications: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.

Risk Management: [The individual] is responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making, and contributing to his or her function`s risk management.

Decision Making: Works under direction and guidance in planning details of procedures and methods to attain definite objectives. Makes decisions within established or widely accepted standards. Achieves assigned/planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, training, business principles, and practical experience.

    Requirements:

Working Conditions: Will require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

Hours of Work: May require extended work hours. Occasional travel including overnight stays may be necessary. May be subject to on-call and call back as needed. May be exposed to moderate noise from equipment.

US Citizenship is required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 6 to 9 years of relevant work experience.
