Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville is seeking an Associate Executive Director to support our Syracuse EOC!

The Associate Executive Director (AED) oversees the educational quality and effectiveness of the Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center (SEOC) programs, instruction, and support services. The AED facilitates institutional engagement and provides leadership in staff recruitment and professional development efforts and ensures compliance with relevant standards for programs, assessment, support services, and Center operations. They assist the Vice President (VP) in creating and maintaining partnerships in and outside of the EOC system, and campus and community relations.

The Vice President has been assigned by Governor Hochul to an important Community Engagement Committee, and as a result will be unavailable to address SEOC issues of significant importance when engaged in committee responsibilities, as the Co-Chair. The Associate Executive Director will be expected to assume the role of manager with primary decision-making authority, policy development and oversight responsibilities, acting as the Vice President's designated representative at the times of his absence. Consequently, senior staff members will alter their reporting structure to report directly to the Associate Executive Director.

The Associate Executive Director also plays a pivotal role in assisting the leadership team alongside the Vice President. They provide robust support to the leadership team, overseeing direct management and ensuring the effective delivery of programs and services. The role is instrumental in upholding the organization's mission and vision, reinforcing EOC policies, and facilitating informed decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned functional areas, such as academic affairs, student services, or business and fiscal services, to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services.
  • Supervise the Director of Academics and Director of Workforce Development.
  • Lead key initiatives in staff recruiting, development, and culture-building.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enrollment systems, coordination of support resources, and equity in student policies.
  • Advise on enrollment growth goals; develop recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Develop policies relating to the operation of the Center as assigned or in the absence of the Vice President.
  • Represent the Vice President and the Center in meetings and partnerships with community, educational, business, and governmental stakeholders, as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President and other senior staff to develop and implement initiatives to enhance the Center's programs, services, and outcomes.
  • Assist the Vice President in the development, implementation, and assessment of the Center's strategic plans, operational plans, and policies, in alignment with the mission, goals, and governing documents of the EOC.
  • Assist the Vice President in ensuring the Center's compliance with all governing documents, policies, and directives of the sponsoring institution and UCAWD.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Vice President in their absence, as designated.
  • In collaboration with the Vice President, pursue partnerships, grants, and funding opportunities to enhance operations.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Social Work or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
