POSITION:
College and Career Coach for After School
After School Tutoring Academy ASTA
NUMBER OF POSITIONS (Approximately 2)
District 79, Alternative Schools and Programs
LOCATION:
Group Homes throughout New York City (Work sites subject to change based on student enrollment)
(Work Sites - Subject to DOE/City Agency Protocol)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference will be given to licensed and appointed NYC Department of Education Guidance Counselors currently serving full time in District 79, who demonstrate knowledge and application of effective practices. Satisfactory performance "At least three (3) years from 9-2021 through 9-2024 of satisfactory (Highly Effective/Effective) experience within the NYCDOE."
SELECTION CRITERIA:

2.Knowledge of Professional Practices
3.Experience in the areas of interdisciplinary instructional strategies, with an understanding of methods used in facilitating congruence between day school instruction and after-school instruction
4.Ability to communicate effectively with students and group home staff and provide motivation
5.Ability to maintain accurate student records
6.Ability to travel to assigned sites in assigned boroughs
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
To prescribe and implement specific individual support that students may need.
To develop an educational plan so students share their story and have conversations regarding their prior school history. This will provide students with an opportunity to reflect on their own strengths and areas of improvements as they develop next steps/future goals.
To help students evolve from one state of development to the next, focusing on education and employment.
To help students with problems such as behavioral issues, neglect, abuse, bullying.
To help with students interests, working on interview, job searching and resume writing skills to help achieve a desired career for student.
To help student work toward graduation.
To maintain necessary records and student folders.
Provide individual and group counseling as needed and guide students in the effective use of conflict resolution techniques.
Collaborate with teachers in the development of cooperative learning strategies
WORK SCHEDULE:
After School: 2 ½ hours a day, two days per week, Monday-Thursday (not to exceed 150 hours per position).
Hours Vary 3:30pm-6:00pm, 3:45pm-6:15pm or 4:00pm-6:30pm. All applicants must be available for the full calendar of the program.
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
