POSITION:
Division of Specialized Instruction and Student Support (DSISS), Special Education Office
Pre-Employment and Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Provider (approximately 10 positions available) Pupil Personnel Services workers (Guidance Counselor)

LOCATION:
Assignments may be remote and/or in-person at identified sites throughout the five boroughs
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be a NYCDOE Licensed and appointed Guidance Counselor
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Must have satisfactory, effective, or highly effective rating for the past three years
Minimum three years' experience in middle or high school supporting students with disabilities
Experience in career preparation, exploration, Work-Based Learning
Knowledge of the New York State Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Standards
Familiar with Academic and Personal Behaviors
Knowledge of process to link students with postsecondary services, including knowledge of external agencies
Ability to use a vocational assessment to properly match students to Work Based Learning opportunities
Ability to implement and teach a self-advocacy curriculum
Knowledge of job placement techniques
Knowledge of Transition Services
Ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated qualities of organizational skills and the ability to work well within a team
Excellent written and oral communication skills
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Transition and College Access Center Instructional Lead, the Pre-ETS Provider will:
Assist with outreach and application process
Provide direct service to students in each of the 5 areas of Pre-ETS services: counseling on postsecondary pathways, work-based learning experiences, career and college exploration, workplace readiness training, and instruction in self-advocacy
Document services provided in ACCES-VR data system and complete quarterly accountability tools in a timely manner
Hold individual family conferences
Help to link students with remote work-based learning experiences or curriculum as appropriate
Review vocational assessments to assess student job capabilities and assist students with vocational planning
Create and maintain weekly schedules and logs
Maintain contact with external organizations and make referrals as appropriate
Assist with any college preparation activities needed
Conduct outreach to families as needed
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
WORK SCHEDULE:
Commencing October 6, 2024 and through June 06, 2025
Hours may take place during weekday evenings from 4:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturdays/Sundays
15 hours weekly
Assignments, locations, work schedules and hours may vary and will be assigned by Transition Office Executive Director
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
