POSITION:
Accelerated Learning Assistant Principals and EAs (Approximately 100 positions) for the Division of School Leadership
LOCATION:
Designated schools with G&T Programs and school-wide accelerated learning models, Remote and various locations citywide
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly licensed and appointed New York City Department of Education assistant principal or education administrator
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Must be an assistant principal in a designated school with new G&T program or EA supporting a designated school
Demonstrated knowledge of accelerated learning, interdisciplinary approaches, project-based learning and Culturally Responsive - Sustaining Education (CRSE)
Demonstrated ability to design, implement and model high-quality projects
Demonstrated ability to work well with, receive and act upon feedback from supervisors and colleagues
Demonstrated ability to collaboratively develop, design and facilitate high-quality professional learning workshops that meet the needs of adult learners
Demonstrated ability to coordinate, run and facilitate meetings
Demonstrated ability to supervise work product creation, manage deadlines and oversee production of final product creation for citywide release
Excellent written communication, organizational, and computer literacy skills
At least three (3) years of satisfactory experience within the NYCDOE (does not preclude applicants with less than three years of service)
No substantiated allegations of misconduct stemming from an OEO, OSI or SCI investigation or any misconduct that has led to the filing of disciplinary charges in the past three years
Satisfactory record of attendance and punctuality
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend professional learning on accelerated learning and related instructional methodologies.
Work with others on the school team to collaboratively plan lessons, adjust curriculum, examine student data, plan and implement projects plans and try out new approaches related to accelerated learning.
Attend remote and in-person meetings, including teacher team meetings.
Engage in coaching cycles, learning walks and recordings of lessons and activities.
Engage in protocols to share evidence of student learning by highlighting student work samples, videos and photos.
Engage in protocols to share evidence of teacher practice by highlighting lesson plans, videos and photos.
Providing detailed feedback via collaborative documents, surveys and focus groups on draft resources and professional learning.
Support the development of instructional resources as needed.
Work collaboratively with other colleagues and program staff and receive and act upon feedback from supervisors and colleagues.
● Conduct workshops for stakeholders at your school and district such as teachers and families.
● Work collaboratively with national experts, Central and district staff, and other colleagues.
● Support related activities that support pilot implementation.
● Develop and submit required group and/or individual project(s) within expected deadlines.
● Share insight learned with colleagues across the NYC DOE.
Please note: When in person meetings are scheduled, appropriate COVID-19 precautions, safety measures, and protocols will be followed.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Summer 2024- Various dates and times including after school, evenings and/or weekends up to 50 hours total. Schedules will be determined by need and availability. Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager and subject to funding availability.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
