POSITION:

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention in Schools (TCIS) Trainer

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR - Up to 8 Positions

Office of Safety and Youth Development

LOCATION:

Various locations throughout New York City

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• New York City Department of Education licensed and appointed GUIDANCE COUNSELOR with a current Train the Trainer Certificate in TCIS from Cornell University and a minimum of 5 years experience in the NYC public schools.

• Open to current and/or retired candidates meeting the licensing requirements.

• Satisfactory ratings for the previous 3 years

SELECTION CRITERIA:

• Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with other pedagogical, clinical, support and administrative staff.

• Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogical best practices.

• Demonstrated ability to provide professional development workshops to teachers, guidance counselors, administrators and other school support staff.

• Demonstrated prior training and professional development in cultural diversity.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work collaboratively with members of the TCIS training team to plan and provide four days of instruction to cohorts of teachers, guidance counselors and other school support staff in TCIS during after school, evenings, weekends and/or summer sessions.

• Provide instruction, guidance and expertise to teachers, guidance counselors and other school support staff in implementing TCIS strategies and skills.

WORK SCHEDULE:

July 2024 through August 2024

Monday to Friday

8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., as needed

Maximum 200 hours

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
