TEACHER, INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS REVIEWER AT ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVELS

LOCATION:
IN-PERSON, OFFICE OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS REVIEW UNIT (IMRU)
65 COURT STREET, ROOM 1201, BROOKLYN, NY 11201
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
New York City Public Schools appointed and licensed teacher of World Language or fluency in one of the following languages:
Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, German, Haitian-Creole, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, or Yiddish
SELECTION CRITERIA:
At least seven (7) years of satisfactory experience within the NYCDOE under regular appointment at the elementary, middle or high school levels.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively in the language of fluency.
Strong background in teaching strategies, educational research, and analytic skills.
Familiar with NYS and NYC standards in relevant grade and subject areas.
Excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
Ability to meet deadlines and to work with limited oversight.
Proficient in use of computers and web-based applications.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Per session personnel will examine the content of instructional materials such as textbooks, trade books, computer software, instructional learning materials, audio-visual software submitted for review to ensure they meet the guidelines for approved materials and are appropriate for use in New York City public schools.
WORK SCHEDULE:
July 2024 - June 2025, Monday through Friday
Summer: 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, up to 25 hours per week maximum.
School Year: 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, up to 250 hours per position.
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
