POSITION:
Teachers - Various Library Services Vacancies
LOCATION:
TBD - Library service citywide locations
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
New York City Department of Education licensed school librarian, licensed teacher-assigned to the library, or licensed school librarian in a VITAL Library School who have received a satisfactory rating and/or an Advance Overall Rating of effective or highly effective in academic year 2023-2024.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Regularly appointed teacher of library with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a school librarian.
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Ability to work collaboratively with a team
Understanding and experience using the Empire State Information Fluency Continuum (ESIFC)
Knowledge of the School Library Program (SLP) Rubric and NYSED Digital Fluency Standards
Ability to design evaluation instrument to measure the effectiveness of the system's programs
Knowledge of how to model effective collaboration with teachers
Experience teaching digital citizenship, media literacy, and information literacy
Experience in integrating the use of technology in teaching and learning
Experience using library automation and familiarity with Destiny Library Automation
Experience and participation in VITAL Libraries Program
Ability to develop and deliver professional learning opportunities for teachers and librarians
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Per session personnel will perform a variety of tasks which may include some/all of the following under the direction of the Director of Library Services:
Develop and curate instructional materials for information literacy, digital fluency, and media literacy and inquiry
Organize, prepare, and present materials for workshops and professional learning opportunities virtually and in-person
Collection development including but not limited to weeding, inventory, and library automation
Other related duties assigned by the director
WORK SCHEDULE:
Hours of service from July 1, 2024 to Fall 2024 and beyond; will vary and range from 6:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Days and times will vary accordingly and hours to be determined including after school, weekends and school breaks.
The maximum number of hours per position is 300.
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
