POSITION:
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL/EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATOR: ED PREP NYC MENTOR/FACILITATOR - To work closely with the Office of Teacher Recruitment & Quality and NYC Men Teach to inspire prospective teachers.
Virtual presentations, online events, and telephone/email outreach for the Ed Prep NYC alternative teacher certification program will be utilized to develop preservice teacher candidates' classroom preparation, using the Danielson Framework for Teaching. Ed Prep NYC supports uncertified school-based staff, who are currently working in NYC Public Schools, to advance their careers in education; the program aims to leverage the talent that already exists in schools.

LOCATION:
NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, VARIOUS LOCATIONS CITYWIDE, INCLUDING THE OFFICE OF TEACHER RECRUITMENT AND QUALITY (65 COURT STREET, BROOKLYN, NY) AND REMOTE
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
LICENSED, APPOINTED AND TENURED NYC PUBLIC SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS AND EDUCATION ADMINISTRATORS
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Effective/Highly Effective Advance ratings
Effective and engaging communicator; comfortable with public speaking
Ability to clearly share information about teacher certification pathway options, application and hiring process
Skilled experience with mentoring adult learners
Mentored as A NYC MEN TEACH AMBASSADOR for a minimum of one year
Preference will be given to applicants trained in TRQ Competencies and NYC Men Teach Program Development
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide virtual monthly information sessions to support NYSED uncertified, prospective NYC Public School teachers
Provide virtual support with the preparation and execution of presentations and online events to achieve mentoring attendance goals
Attend orientation and monthly professional learning sessions
Conduct phone and email outreach to NYSED uncertified, prospective NYC Public School teachers
Develop relationships with adult learners and TRQ partner colleges/universities
WORK SCHEDULE:
SU Rate: Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. More hours may be granted upon the hiring manager's approval.
October 2024 - June 2025 (Up to 12 hours/month)
Days: Monday
Timeframe: 4:00pm
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
