POSITION:
Instructional Resources Developer (High School Earth and Space Science Scaffolds for MLs/ELLs)

LOCATION:
52 Chambers Street, New York, NY 10007 and various locations
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed and appointed NYCPS middle or high school science teacher (Earth Science Certification Preferred)
Licensed and appointed NYCPS ESOL middle or high school teacher
SELECTION CRITERIA:
At least three (3) years of satisfactory (Highly Effective/Effective) experience within the NYCDOE as a middle or high school science teacher or ESOL teacher
Certified by New York State in Earth Science grades 5-9 or 7-12, or ESOL, and/or at least three years experience teaching or co-teaching Regents Earth Science Course work
Experience with teaching New Visions' Earth and Space Science or New Visions Biology Core Curriculum
Knowledge of and implementation of instruction aligned to the 2016 New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards, including strategies such as 5E instructional model
Scheduled to teach or co-teach science during the 2024-2025 school year
Experience with teaching a racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse group of English Language Learners (ELLs)
Knowledge of how to effectively scaffold grade level curriculum (e.g., texts, tasks) for ELLs
Experience providing professional learning on ELL related topics to colleagues within the school community
Demonstrated ability to meet benchmarks and deadlines for resource development
Demonstrated ability to act on constructive feedback, ability to provide constructive feedback, collegially
Possess a strong learner's stance
Excellent attendance and punctuality records
Able to attend online and in-person meetings and professional learning, engage digitally in platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Classroom
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Adept at utilizing the various tools and features of Google Docs and Slides
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Per session personnel will perform one or more of the following tasks under the direction of the appropriate supervisor:
Attend all in-person and online (if applicable) sessions for ML/ELL Science Instructional Resources Developer
Collaboratively design, create and revise instructional and curricular materials and professional learning resources for use citywide
Facilitate professional learning based on materials created
Complete and submit all required documents as needed
Additional responsibilities as needed
WORK SCHEDULE:
Hours up to, but not limited to, approximately 60 hours total per participant, in-person

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
