Job Details:
The District Middle School Grades 6-8 Instructional Math Coach is responsible for delivering a high-quality instructional experience consistent with the curriculum standards of the school district.
Essential duties for all faculty members include classroom instruction; conferences with students, parents,and colleagues; active participation in the work of the department on curriculum development, activities,and pedagogy.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university;
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in these area(s):
Math (5-8)
SEI Endorsement
Atleast five (5) years of experience teaching atthe elementary school level, preferably in upper elementary grades
Ability to engage in FPS Coaching Cycles with teachers (general education, special education, ESL, and/or Intervention teachers) in contemporary and effective Mathematics content, pedagogy, instructional design, assessment, and strategies.
Plan and facilitate professional learning in contemporary and effective Mathematics,pedagogy, instructional design, assessment, and strategies.
Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth, both academic and social-emotional, to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student.
Knowledge of assessment systems including FPS system (ATI/Galileo), questions, performance tasks and rubrics, and MCAS computer-based testing.
Expertise with/able to create and analyze data, reports, documentation, intervention groups, schedule assessments, and conduct/facilitate grade-level briefing sessions.
Facilitate data analysis using platforms such as, but not limited to EWIS, EDWIN, Galileo, Excel, assessment reports, DESE data sets, and other technology-based tools
Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The District Middle School Grades 6-8 Instructional Math Coach will;
Partner with teachers on effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction
Engage in the FPS Coaching Cycle with teachers to create a student learning goal and develop, implement, and revise effective instruction which includes strategic, intentional planning which includes clear learning targets and success criteria, aligned to MA Frameworks, centered on the
District core instructional resource, employing formative and summative assessments, using evidence based instructional practices, and making use of just in time scaffolds to support access to instruction for all learners
Meet with building administrators to discuss district and school strengths, areas of improvement, and coaching work aligned to the District Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans and centered around student learning needs.
Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies,to increase student learning and motivation and confidence to learn
Prepare and facilitate District professional learning as required during early release days, common planning times and after-school hours (stipend/pdps, in-service credit, etc)
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards and establish clear
objectives which reflect these standards for all lessons, units, and projects
Implement the District benchmark and other assessment programs, calendars, and documents, including school and classroom level reports; coordinates, prepares for and facilitates all assessment pre/de-briefing sessions
Maintain accurate and complete records and reports as required by Title 1, district procedures and administrative regulations
Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning the broad academic progress of students
Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable access to opportunities for student learning, including, implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans and/or second language learners
Serve as a leader in Math content and pedagogy
Collaborate with all partner agencies, such as Fitchburg State University, DESE, DSAC, WPI, etc.
Differentiate instruction and provides appropriate opportunities for learning using a response to intervention (RTI) framework
Follow professional practices consistent with the district's policies in working with students, parents, and colleagues
Attend and participate in district assigned meetings and activities according to district policy
Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development
events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for recertification
Implement the district's mission, philosophy of education, and instructional standards and objectives
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by district policy and administrative regulation
Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner;
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of assigned students;
Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including, implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and/or English Learners (EL);
Perform other duties that may be assigned by the District Directors of Mathematics.
