Swim Team Coach, Hershey Country Club

This position is responsible for coaching the Hershey Country Club Swim Team through practices, six interclub meets, and one championship meet.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

• Assisting Head Coach in managing the team.

• Conducting practices.

• Providing instruction on strokes, starts, and turns.

• Encouraging/motivating each swimmer, regardless of ability.

• Assisting Head Coach in managing home and away meets; conferring with the Swim Team Parents Committee.

• Coordinating swim team activities with the Pool Manager.

• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a swim coach.

• Applicants must attend and complete the Ellis & Assoc. International Pool and Lifeguard Training Program provided and paid for by the Hershey Entertainment and Resorts properties.

• This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and requires successful completion and passing of a pre-employment drug test.

• In accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI), as a condition of continued employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to swim 100 yards using crawl or breaststroke without resting.

• Must be able to feet first surface dive and retrieve a 10 lb. brick from a minimum depth of 8 ft. (or deepest depth of the facility) and bring it to the surface.

• Must be able to tread water without using arms for 1 minute.

• Must be able to safely exit pool without use of stairs, ladders, or zero depth.

• Ability to handle stressful working conditions, emergencies, and to accept a high degree of accountability.

• Must be in good physical condition.

• Must have normal vision (20/25 or 20/25 corrected).

• Prior lifeguarding experience is a plus, but not required.

• Must display a positive attitude and professional image in compliance with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.

• Must have the ability to safeguard confidential information.

Job Demands:

• This is a seasonal position available for the summer season beginning in May.

• Must be available from Mid-May through Mid-July. Practices start in June 5:00 PM-7:00 PM in the evenings until school is out, then switch to 9:00 AM -12:00 PM when school is out. Swim meets are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:00 PM starting Mid-June through Mid-July.
