Reporting to Academy's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the SVP Real Estate and Construction is responsible for overseeing all aspects of real estate, construction and store design. This role provides direction and strategy during development and execution of accepted new concepts and partners with departments such as Finance, Legal and Store Planning.

10+ years of commercial retail design, construction and real estate management experience
Experience leading a multi-store prototype development strategy
Experience functioning in a leadership role
Retail real estate management experience preferred
Skills:
Knowledge of construction regulation processes and practices

Strategic thinker who can also understand tactical delivery of analysis as needed
High level of professionalism, good judgment and initiative

Responsibilities:
Oversees and manages the strategic direction of the Real Estate and Construction department
Spearheads all real estate activities and negotiates acquisition and disposition of properties
Oversees, negotiates and/or reviews all real estate transactions including but not limited to, market analysis, site selection, due diligence, lease negotiation, lease maintenance, and landlord relationships
Provides innovative thought leadership and makes significant contributions to Academy's strategic planning activities in a collaborative and cross-functional way
Ensures compliance with the terms and conditions of all contracts and lease agreements
Provides continuous assessment of vendor and contractor performance and value and conduct site visits on a regular basis
Conducts market analysis and recommends sites for new stores
Maintains a current knowledge of the competitive retail environment in current and potential Academy markets
Strategically set over-all store design team direction for value engineering and over-all costs against company criteria and benefits
Works with senior management to incorporate real estate solutions into strategic business decisions
Establish process, procedure and policy that supports the work and maximize efficiency and productivity
Maintain internal control documentation, effectively perform assigned internal controls, remediate internal control exceptions, and respond to internal and external audit requests.
Create a disciplined, orderly approach to construction, including precise scheduling and budgeting
Develops, prepares, and maintains budget for the Real Estate and Construction department
Monitor and report monthly forecasts and financial performance
Oversee processing of all pay applications, change of order requests, invoices and requests for information related to Construction department
Works with appraisers to inspect properties and land under consideration for acquisition, and recommends acquisition, lease, disposition, improvement or other action consistent with the best interest of Academy
Works with senior management to incorporate real estate solutions into strategic business decisions
Develop a thorough understanding of Academy's policies, procedures and safety rules
Duties may change; Team Member may be required to perform other duties as assigned
