SVP Product Marketing

The SVP Product Marketing is a key leadership role at Mimecast that shapes the strategy and direction of the company and product, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer.

This role will own the product messaging, positioning and packaging and drive the strategy to enhance product adoption, drive revenue growth, and increase market share. We are looking for someone who possesses strong leadership skills and deep understanding of the cybersecurity industry, and will lead a team of product marketers to drive revenue growth and customer acquisition. This role requires a proven combination of strategic thinking, creativity, and strong analytical skills to ensure that our products stand out from the competition and meet the needs of our customers.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Own the core Mimecast product message and messaging strategy, marketecture, positioning and naming.

  • Lead and oversee a team of product marketers, offering guidance, coaching, and support to ensure the team's success.

  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive insights. Utilize this information to shape product positioning and messaging.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and marketing, to ensure seamless alignment and effective execution of product marketing initiatives.

  • Craft compelling and distinctive product messaging and positioning that resonates with target customers, effectively conveying the value and benefits of our products.

  • Develop and deliver product marketing collateral, encompassing sales enablement materials, presentations, product videos, and case studies, to bolster sales efforts and drive customer engagement.

  • Spearhead product launches by working closely with the product team to create launch plans, sales training materials, and go-to-market strategies.

  • Monitor and analyze market and competitive trends, providing insights and recommendations to inform product roadmap and pricing strategies.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to conceive and execute integrated marketing campaigns that generate demand, elevate brand awareness, and foster customer acquisition.

  • Track and analyze key performance metrics to gauge the effectiveness of product marketing initiatives, offering data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Assist in the annual planning process to support overall company business objectives, aligning with and reinforcing customer, sales, and product goals.

  • Develop and maintain strong internal relationships with executives, senior leaders, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives and deliverables.

  • Present and communicate to external audiences such as industry analysts, customers, partners, and the press.

What You'll Bring:

  • The ideal candidate will have 15 plus years' prior global product marketing leadership experience in the cybersecurity security industry.

  • Experience managing multiple global product or technical marketing teams including VPs and Senior Directors.

  • Experience in strategy or strategic marketing is preferred.

  • Experience leading AR function is preferred but not essential.

  • Known and verifiable public reputation in cybersecurity space as a thought leader.

  • Exceptional presentation skills across multiple audiences including executive, customer and partner.

  • Strong customer orientation.

  • Experience with and existing relationships with industry analysts such as Gartner and Forrester.

  • Experience speaking with the press.

  • Comfortable setting realistic expectations and managing a highly demanding and performance-driven employee culture.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a global, matrixed environment.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Must be a team player who is goal-oriented and confident, with aptitude and desire to build high-performing dispersed team.

  • This individual must demonstrate an ability to get things done, build consensus, resolve conflict, and solve tough business problems, working in concert with others.
