Department Overview
The Middle Market Lending Team provides senior, one-stop and second lien loans to U.S. middle market companies. The team structures financing solutions with hold positions of up to $700 million. We also underwrite and syndicate senior credit facilities and a proprietary suite of GOLD (unitranche) facilities up to $2 billion. The Middle Market Lending Team has specialty teams in five verticals: Consumer, Restaurant and Retail, Diversified Industries, Financial Services, Healthcare and Software & Technology services. The team has an outstanding track record of closing deals on time and at the agreed-upon terms, utilizing deep industry knowledge to identify, advise on and implement value creation strategies. Key responsibilities include origination and underwriting of loans. The team works closely with all areas of the Firm to ensure seamless execution.
Position Responsibilities
This role requires a hands-on individual contributor with credit, deal execution and legal documentation experience. This individual will be responsible for reviewing new investment opportunities and monitoring existing investments as outlined below.
New Deals (>70% of time on an annual basis):
Lead 3 person deal teams responsible for all aspects of deal execution including evaluation, structuring, due diligence and legal documentation
Prepare and present investment committee memorandums to the Investment Committee
Review and sensitize investment downside case models
Support originators through effective communication with financial sponsor client base
Mentor junior team members
Other duties as assigned
Portfolio Management (<30% of time on an annual basis):
Manage a portfolio of existing investments with support from junior underwriters, associates and the portfolio monitoring group
Assist in the management of accounts by monitoring financial performance through review of flash reports from portfolio monitoring group, quarterly covenant compliance, industry events, company press releases, industry and company research reports
Review quarterly portfolio reviews including analysis of historical and projected financial performance and covenant compliance calculations
Manage amendment requests, as necessary
Other duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related financial discipline with an outstanding record of academic achievement
10+ years of related experience
Leveraged lending experience preferred (not High Yield) at a credit fund, finance company, commercial or investment bank, hedge fund, BDC or mezzanine fund
Formal credit training preferred
Experience working with financial sponsors is a plus, but not a requirement
Experience working on Diversified Industries transactions is a plus, but not a requirement
Ability to effectively communicate with external clients

Compensation & Benefits
For New York Only: It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $320,000 for a Senior Vice President and $297,500 for a Vice President. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experiences and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department / team performance and market factors.
