Lincoln National Corporation seeks a SVP, Head of Enterprise Litigation & Legal Operations to develop an overall strategic direction for management of the litigation and legal operations functional areas at the enterprise level. Establish enterprise-wide legal strategy and litigation organizational goals, objectives, metrics, and operating procedures.
Oversee enterprise-wide legal operations, including objectives pertaining to quality, compliance, regulations, and strategic management. Ensure litigation operational plans are aligned with overall business plans and specific strategic and tactical initiatives. Advise the Board of Directors and other senior executives, including the General Counsel and the Audit Committee on material litigation, dispute resolution, commercial claims, regulatory disputes, and legal risk management.
Develop and implement comprehensive, coordinated company-wide litigation strategies, policies, and procedures. Manage relationships with key external constituents, including state Attorneys General and state and federal regulators, industry groups and associations, corporate insurance providers, external counsel, and external auditors. Evaluate and implement processes to track litigation case status and litigation expenses, and implement effective overall litigation reporting processes.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field, followed by 12 years of progressively responsible experience managing enterprise-wide multi-jurisdiction litigation strategy. Experience must include a minimum of: 12 years of experience developing preventative and operational litigation strategy across multiple jurisdictions; 12 years of experience with developing legal strategies in response to ongoing or potential regulatory investigations; 12 years of experience with developing litigation strategy to address actuarial risk, regulatory compliance, and disclosures; 12 years of experience with negotiation of errors and omissions insurance coverage, inception and operation of captive insurance, and of related corporate insurance issues in domestic and international markets; 12 years of experience coordinating legal strategies across multiple business unit operations in multiple jurisdictions; 12 years of experience coordinating corporate litigation e-discovery in multiple jurisdictions; and 12 years of experience with insurance and re-insurance actuarial issues in a large-scale litigation and arbitration context. Travel is required 50% of the time to various unanticipated locations throughout the United States.
