Overview

The Sustainable Solutions Lead is a critical member of the Living Progress team, responsible for leading HPE's sustainable business strategy and engaging across the company to drive toward our goals and vision. As we further embed sustainability across our operations, supply chain, and products and solutions, a holistic view of systems, tools, and offerings will accelerate progress and drive alignment across the business.

The Sustainable Solutions Lead will drive the low-carbon solution strategy for HPE's sustainable tech roadmap, influencing stakeholders and integrating with HPE's business and organizational objectives, customer requirements, market trends and projected emissions reductions. They will be responsible for defining, evolving, and advancing a low-carbon product roadmap including new capabilities and joint go-to-market partnerships, value articulation, and alignment to HPE's net-zero emissions reductions efforts. A strategic element of this work will include measurement and tracking portfolio sales, adoption, and pipeline to ensure successful sales, customer adoption and satisfaction, and measurable carbon reductions attributed to our sustainable technology portfolio. Additionally, they will partner with business units to ensure consistent and credible methodologies and measurement approaches for surfacing environmental data across customer-facing solutions. They bring a depth of subject matter expertise around renewable electricity and/or carbon markets, technology expertise, and experience driving a cross-company program requiring extensive change management. The role will reside within the Sustainability Offerings team, focused on building a more sustainable solutions portfolio for our customers, and will partner closely with the Climate and Environment team as well as critical data and system owners across the company.

This position requires extensive coordination at all levels of the company, strong sustainability subject matter expertise, robust business acumen, excellent communication skills, the ability to synthesize complex business problems and devise and execute on plans which address big challenges and opportunities in the environmental sustainability space.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a multi-year low-carbon solution plan and oversee its adoption, working in close alignment with net-zero and broader sustainable offerings roadmap efforts. This strategy seeks to deliver integrated solution-level offerings that optimize for energy consumption and emissions across the IT ecosystem while promoting clean and sustainable energy use.

  • Facilitate early technical engagements with cross functional leadership to determine requirements for complex products and/or services. Ensures that design teams are aware of the systemic implications of design choices and clearly articulates anticipated impact on product and/or service lifecycle.

  • Serve as the internal authority and expert on low-carbon solution offerings to ensure a cohesive and credible roadmap and value proposition to customers

  • Track and maintain visibility of carbon-related data flows across the company-into dashboards, tools, product design considerations, digital platforms, and more.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of sustainability methodologies related to HPE's product portfolio, including internal tooling and measurement approaches, and direct corporate standard methodology updates into sustainability data platforms, working closely with Director, Climate and Environment, to uphold the rigor and precision of HPE's corporate carbon footprint.

  • Provide internal recommendations for investments in new technologies or initiatives that could accelerate the multi-year strategy

  • Drive high-impact cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and ensure the team is achieving commitments. Successful project management, including work with strategy consultants and other external agencies, on strategic efforts that require hands-on experience across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations.

  • Manages internal cross-functional partnerships, defines processes and governance for on-boarding and managing external partnerships or investments, shares best practices and drives opportunities to improve upon process, influences near- and long-term sourcing decisions by clearly articulating technical and business implications

  • Mentors and provides guidance to team members within and outside of the Living Progress organization to enhance sustainable technology knowledge and capabilities

  • Follow industry trends, proposed and ratified regulations, and best practices that could impact the provision of sustainability data to our customers

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 15+ years experience in procurement, carbon accounting, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 10+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding of carbon accounting practices and/or carbon market standards

  • Proven cross-functional project management and leadership skills, leading to positive organizational change (e.g. PMP and/or ProSci certification preferred)

  • Aptitude to learn/understand global sustainability related policies, regulations, standards, and literature

  • Track record of driving results through deep and resourceful collaboration

  • Demonstrated experience with assurance activities including internal and/or operational audit preferred

USD Annual Salary: $133,000.00 - $322,000.00
