Position Summary

The Sustainability Project Manager (SPM) has a primary responsibility for program implementation, including conservation and capital asset enhancements across our HCA (HEXPOL Compounding Americas) enterprise in partnership with our Engineering and Operations leaders.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Support and execute capital asset initiatives that support business resiliency, operational savings, and enterprise carbon reductions.

  • Coordinate project solutions (capital or operational) from bidding, implementation, and closeout; with site Leadership to improve 3P's (people, planet, and business performance). Complete project solution process entails: the identification of solutions, evaluating feasibility, determining equipment criteria requirements, preparing specifications on building and equipment requirements for outside bidding, sequence of installation, sharing communications and training needs, testing and validation, through punch list/closeout.

  • Manage the project level core outcomes by collaborating with onsite Engineering Lead to assure contractors performing work on-site drop seamlessly into the existing processes: including presenting contractor safety before any contract work begins, equipment process testing, final as-built documentation and completing punch list before release of final payment.

  • Implementation process will align with the traditional and HEXPOL specific Project Management/Continuous Improvement processes and methodologies, and work in harmony with the Quality and Safety policies and procedures consistent for legislative and regulatory compliance.

  • Facilitate systems to monitor plant performance and write/update standards and procedures for control systems improving sustainability or core processes and equipment such as compressed air, process heat, dust collection, HVAC, and other energy demanding equipment.

  • Collaborate on demand side management tactics, reducing operational expenses.

  • Develop and use energy benchmarking and monitoring dashboard systems to ensure performance and identify timely gaps.

  • Develop and instill best practices as they are identified.

  • Partner with onsite Engineering Lead to troubled machinery and process inefficiencies, then explore solutions with efficiency as a core outcome of the solution.

  • Travel to other HEXPOL locations or to customers may be required, up to 40%.

  • Perform any other project/task as assigned by Management.

Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management/Sustainability. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.

  • Four to seven (4-7) years industry experience in manufacturing, distribution, aerospace, defense or automotive, is preferred.

  • Certification with Project Management and/or Continuous Improvement, is strongly preferred.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong computer/systems skills - MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).

  • High degree of concentration, attention to detail, high energy, self-motivated and self-reliant.

  • Solid organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage and handle multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage a broad range of responsibilities.

  • Ability to interact well with all personality types.

  • Strong cooperation, collaboration, and team-building skills.

  • Confidence in group facilitation (face to face and virtual environments)

  • Effective analytical, technical mindset and problem-solving skills
