Sustainability Manager

Position Summary

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading Sun Communities Environmental, Social and Governance program by developing, implementing and overseeing sustainability solutions throughout the company. They will be responsible for liaising with internal team members across the organization and external consultants to ensure Sun Communities continues to be a leader across its ESG policies and initiatives.

Duties

• Ensures the company meets its environmental, social and governance goals.

• Handles the planning, organizing, management and distribution Suns annual ESG reporting for internal and external audiences.

• Oversees the process of data aggregation and input into the companys sustainability tracking and reporting software system.

• Communicates progress on ESG strategy and programs, enhancing visibility through qualitative and quantitative reports.

• Oversees the scoring of various third-party reporting frameworks (e.g. ISS, GRESB, RobecoSAM, CDP, Sustainanalytics) and develops plan on how to enhance the Companys scoring profile.

• Works directly with the public reporting and investor relations teams on improving understanding and integration of ESG factors, in support of the overall business and communication strategy.

• Monitors and measures sustainability performance indicators including energy, greenhouse gas emissions, waste & recycling, water and preparedness throughout Suns main office, communities and resorts.

• Proposes sustainability initiatives taking into consideration cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and resources needed to carry out the environmental responsibility strategy.

• Identifies opportunities to implement technology related to energy efficiency, water efficiency, and waste reduction throughout our communities, resorts and corporate headquarters.

• Reviews sustainability program objectives, progress, and status ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, standards, regulations, and laws.

• Advocates for implementation of environmental best practices including opportunities and programs that involve and provide benefit to our residents and guests.

• Supports Suns stakeholders in handling sustainability-related inquiries, responding to and/or meeting with the necessary parties.

• Partners with the social responsibility manager to create strategies in order to meet company goals related to corporate social & environmental responsibility; organizes, attends and promotes events related to meeting these goals.

• Manages vendor relationships to ensure greatest level of performance and results.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies or related field (Required)

• Master's Degree in Environmental Studies or related field (Preferred)

• 5 years ESG and/or sustainability program development & implementation.

• Advanced computer proficiency including the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite, email and internet

• Experience in data manipulation and management

• Familiarity with third-party ESG reporting frameworks [ISS, GRESB, RobecoSAM, CDP, GRI, Sustainanalytics] (Preferred)
