Sustainability Data Analyst
Are you passionate about sustainability and data?
We are seeking a full-time candidate to join our Advisory team. Your focus will be on providing large-scale data analysis and strategic advisory services across public and private sectors, specifically related to energy and carbon emissions calculations and management. The ability to manage data projects, visualize and communicate data findings creatively and effectively, provide analytical expertise, and create evidence-based recommendations for implementation will be critical to help our clients assess, plan, and ultimately achieve their decarbonization and wider sustainability goals.
Responsibilities:
As a key part of the team, your responsibilities will be varied, but likely to include:
Provide data analysis and extract actionable insights for multiple clients/projects at a time.
Analyze large-scale datasets related to energy, carbon, and water to identify trends and insights that drive strategic decisions in sustainability.
Develop forecast models that incorporate projected grid emissions factors and other relevant parameters to aid clients in making informed decarbonization decisions.
Develop and refine data collection systems and databases to ensure high-quality data for analysis and decision-making.
Support and lead the technical components of Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas inventory projects.
Create dynamic data visualization tools and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel to effectively communicate insights.
Craft detailed technical reports, presentations, and memos tailored for a diverse range of clients, including public sector agencies, private enterprises, and academic institutions, ensuring that data-driven recommendations are clearly and effectively communicated.
As an experienced Sustainability Data Analyst, it is expected that you can demonstrate the following:
Strong familiarity with various aspects of the built environment and possess the necessary analytical skills to support client and design decision-making processes, especially concerning decarbonization strategies
Solid understanding of Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas accounting methodologies
Ability to effectively work with a wide array of databases that range in quality, size, and type, while organizing data workflows from the outset to ensure consistency and integrity
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous and overlapping tasks and projects successfully
Comfort interfacing with clients and leading client meetings
Excellent technical communication skills, including storytelling capabilities related to written, oral, presentation, and visual design
Ability to think analytically and strategically, derive insights from data, and synthesize into client-ready deliverables (e.g., presentations, reports, discrete analysis, etc.)
Ability to quickly identify issues, assimilate information and develop solutions.
Organized, self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative in team environments.
Strong graphics and visual story-telling capabilities preferred.
Knowledge of policies and funding mechanism to support sustainability and ESG program implementation a plus.
Knowledge of cost modelling, commissioning, and/or GHG accounting a plus.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in related field (examples include but are not limited to Data Science, Sustainability or Environmental Science, Engineering, Economics, Urban Planning, Public Policy, etc.)
Minimum 4-6 years’ experience in sustainability in roles that involved analyzing and visualizing data.
Advanced Excel experience with the ability to develop dynamic tools in Excel and other data visualization tools including PowerBI and Tableau
Data analytics experience using Python a plus
Software and Frameworks:
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerBI or Tableau
Experience in using GHG Protocol for calculations preferred
Proficiency in Python a plus
What we offer:
Salary range of $80,000 to $115,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.
