What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Perform General Physical Activities. Perform a variety of tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials. Reads and sets grade markers in accordance to construction plans.
Repair and Maintain Equipment. Assist co-workers in the servicing, repairing, and adjusting of various pieces of equipment throughout the plant.
Inspect Equipment and Structures. Able to inspect Automated Machine Guidance ("AMG") equipment for accurate and safe day-to-day operation with the ability to provide general maintenance needs. Observes excavating activities to verify conformance to marker references and notifies equipment operators and supervisor of deviations.
Operate Vehicles and Equipment. Operates and ensures accurate use of grade equipment. Operates Trimble and/or Topcon equipment and experience with this type of equipment.
Communicate Effectively. Interacts with construction crew members who are facilitating alignment, movement, and adjustment of the equipment to complete conformation of grade specifications for the construction project.
Aptitude to follow verbal and written instruction. Competency in accurate layout for various jobs and communicating with project managers on specifics of each job requirement.
Travel. Willingness and ability to travel to and from job sites is required.
Skills You'll Need:
Education. High School diploma or GED is preferred. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Experience. Five (5) years related experience is preferred
Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production is preferred.
Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
Technology. General computer operation is necessary. Ability to understand and operate GPS Rover is preferred
