We are seeking a Survey Technician Intern in our Dayton, Columbus, or Cincinnati, OH office for the Summer Semester (May August).

The Survey Technician Student Intern will be working alongside Woolpert survey field technicians collecting and processing survey data. Some projects could be aiding with LiDAR work, aeronautical surveys, and data collection of utilities for clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the integrated Geospatial Field team

  • Gaining real-world experience collecting data in the field with licensed surveyors

  • Assisting with the collection and processing of data for clients


Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, with at least sophomore status

  • Must be studying Surveying, or related field

  • Must be willing to work outside in the field, no matter the weather conditions

  • General understanding and working knowledge of various Survey equipment including Trimble Business Center Software, Microstation, and AutoCAD is preferred

  • Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

  • Exceptional multitasking and time management skills

  • Must be willing to travel when needed through the duration of the internship

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen prior to employment

Burke's headquarters is located in downtown Cincinnati, OH. Burke is currently seeking an Associate Survey Programmer for our Survey Systems Department. The Programmer works as a member of a cross-functional account team that designs and implements marketing research projects. As a member of the team, the Programmer programs questionnaires for Web and telephone marketing research surveys and processes the research results for our clients. This role would be a contract position for 6 months with potential to convert to full-time employment after 6 months. What you'll do: * Gathering specifications, determining the best development methods, testing and running programs, and proactively troubleshooting potential issues * Designing and implementing complex logic scenarios into online surveys, ensuring online compatibility for multiple browsers, and using a variety of internet tools to manipulate audio/video/graphics * Programming complex internet surveys for online presentation using a variety of programming languages and software packages (VB or ASP.NET, JavaScript, XML, HTML, html5, CSS, SQL) * Implementing new scripting techniques to gain efficiencies * Assisting with the introduction of new technologies into the department * Designing and producing reports to display survey results according to client specifications by processing data within a database This role is a mix of 80% programming and 20% other responsibilities, with the other including business analysis, planning, communicating, looking for efficiencies, etc. To be successful in this position, a Programmer must apply strong communication and interpersonal skills, be focused on providing quality service, and be able to work effectively in a team environment. What you'll need: * Associate's Degree (Bachelor's degree preferred) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Informatics, Media Informatics or another relevant field, one year experience in .NET and SQL and at least one year of programming related experience. * The ideal candidate will have one year with the above experience in OOD and using Web development tools such as VB or ASP.NET, JavaScript, XML, jQuery and graphic design software.
