The Survey Representative oversees the activities of a survey crew in providing all APS surveys for transmission/distribution overhead and underground lines, land acquisitions/disposals, power plants, substations, switchyards, and special surveys including risk management surveys in support of APS legal department. Perform surveys and staking of company facilities in support of APS project leaders and designers. Produce accurate survey notes depicting the exact location of APS facilities and their relation to private property and right of ways.
High school diploma/GED. Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification plus additional three years utility party chief experience post-certification or equivalent training and/or experience (LSIT requires four years' experience as crew member). Comprehensive knowledge of survey mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; working knowledge of the Public Land Survey System, boundary control, and legal principles, ability to interpret construction plans and legal descriptions, experienced in the use of total stations, Trimble GPS survey equipment and Trimble office software, Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, and demonstrated leadership skills. A valid Arizona driver's license is required for this position.
Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance of the survey crew's daily activities while also providing mentoring and training to other crew members.
Ensures the completion of each job within scheduled time frames.
Responsible for crew safety, assigned vehicle, and condition of equipment.
Provides accurate surveys and survey notes for the preparation of easements, governmental permits, and APS record retention.
Stake APS facilities per APS engineering and staking standards.
Works with APS project leaders, designers, and governmental agencies to work out APS location conflicts.
