We are currently recruiting for a Surplus Lines Associate in our Regulatory Affairs team. This position will work hybrid from our Studio Park office in Grand Rapids, MI.

Responsibilities:

The following description is not meant to be all-inclusive and may be modified from time to time at the discretion of management:

• Initiates tax compliance submissions as assigned by senior team member

• Verifies the applicability and accuracy of all tax compliance documents received and filed

• Maintains day-to-day regulatory documents in an organized and timely fashion at the direction of the team

• Maintains confidences and protects operations by maintaining a high degree of confidentiality with all sensitive information and assigned tasks

• Remains informed of multi-state tax requirements

• Execute and utilize tax reports as needed

• Possesses the ability to interpret and apply best practice to meet unique business needs

• Maintains current knowledge of team responsibilities and is cognizant of the team's function by supporting the success of the team through effective and accurate administrative assistance

• Resolves limited and non-routine problems as required

• Other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor

Education and/or Experience:

• Associate's degree or higher is preferred, but equitable work experience will be accepted

• Enrollment in a degree program in pursuit of an associate's degree (or higher) will be considered, but only if in one of the following (or comparable) fields: accounting, business administration or general business, insurance, or legal studies

• Accounting experience is preferred, but not required

• Audit experience is preferred, but not required

• At least one year in a customer service role and/or administrative role is required

• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is required

Other Qualifications:

• Must possess strong computing skills, including Microsoft Office and, specifically, Excel

• Must be able to work independently after given instructions and guidance and enjoy a high degree of interaction with team members

• Must have a high level of problem-solving capacity

• Must be self-motivated and driven

• Must communicate effectively - both in writing and orally

• Must be willing and able to work overtime, particularly between September and December
