JOB SUMMARY
This direct hire position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
2.Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
3.Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
4.Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation.
Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
5.Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
6.Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
7.Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER SKILLS:
Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others
Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision
Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications
Understanding of operating room protocols

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS (required unless otherwise designated)
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology school or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
If LPN, graduation from an accredited LPN program is required.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
1-2 years of CVOR experience as a surgical technologist/LPN in a full service operating room preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patients needs.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
Washington:
Registered Surgical Technologist or LPN license.

Ensures that instruments and supplies are clean, sterilized, and available as needed. Provides hands on assisting with scrub role. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES: Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure; preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure; performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator; assisting with placement of sterile drapes; providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure; maintaining an organized sterile field; ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed; and preparing sterile dressings. Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas. Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients. Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. EDUCATION AND SKILLS * Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program. * Certified surgical technologist (CST) preferred. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. * Basic computer skills (eg, Microsoft® Word) * One year perioperative services experience preferred. * Basic understanding of clinic policies. * Ability to be supportive, honest, consistent, and a team player. * Possess a positive winning attitude and welcome challenges. * Must have predictable and reliable attendance.
