Surgery Center at Kissing Camels is an outpatient surgery center with 2 ORs and 1 procedure room offering surgical procedures to patients in a unique patient-focused environment. We currently perform surgeries in Oculoplastics, ENT, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery, and Pain Management. We offer no nights, holidays, weekends, or call.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
The Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for the provision of patient care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Director of Nursing. The ST performs duties according to the scope of practice designated by the facility position description, role and responsibilities and according to the surgical technologist professional organization and certification boar.
Performs surgical team functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Prepares supplies, instruments, equipment and rooms for surgical procedures.
Participates in sponge, instrument and needle count with the circulating nurse.
Knows and practices the principles and procedures of sterile technique. Handles specimens in accordance with facility policy and procedures.
Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays according to physicians' preference cards.
Assists in storing and stocking supplies as directed.
Maintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons' preference cards.
Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective and/or preventive measures.
Maintains confidentiality of patient and organization related information.
Supports the Surgery Center environment by acknowledging the presence and dignity of all with whom he/she communicates.
Participates in and supports the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
Demonstrates willingness to learn and accept changes.
Adheres to standard universal precautions
Graduate of an approved surgical technician program
Certification preferred, but not required
1+ years of experience required
Must have current BLS certification
