Job Title: Surgical Technologist-Main OR

This position is located in Lancaster, Pa

$5,000 sign-on bonus with one year commitment

This position is located in the Main OR at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pa

Full-time, 1.0 80 hr/2 weeks working Day/evening rotation, hours between 7:00 am and 11:30 pm with every third weekend, one summer/one winter holiday, and weekly on call requirement with 30 minute response time.

SUMMARY: Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine is currently seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Main OR. The Surgical Techt assists in the delivery of patient care by handling instruments during operative procedures and by performing a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing and arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies under a Registered Nurse.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
1.Utilizes techniques of infection control. Monitors all personnel for compliance with aseptic techniques and safety standards.
2.Functions primarily as instrument handler on all types of surgical procedures involving and requiring conformance with specific sterile and aseptic techniques and procedures.
3.Secures, sets up and otherwise prepares the Operating Room equipment, instruments and supplies. Arranges instruments, tables, stands and other articles in specified order. Adjusts equipment within the Operating Room to meet the needs of the surgeon and operative requirements.
4.Functions as first assistant to the surgeon by handling tissue, using instruments to provide wound exposure and hemostasis, suction, sponge and bovie when needed, cutting tissue and tying suture as directed by surgeon, which may include closure of surgical wound.
5.Cares for contaminated instruments and supplies during and after the surgical procedures utilizing appropriate environmental control techniques.
6.Participates in the on-call system in the O.R. for emergency and urgency cases.

REQUIREMENTS:

SPECIFIC EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Graduate of an approved school of surgical technology.

PREFERRED JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • One (1) year of Operating Room scrub experience.

This position requires PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances.

SUMMARY: Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine is currently seeking a Mammography/Breast Ultrasound Technologist . The Mammo/Breast Ultrasound Tech is responsible for the independent operation of mammographic and sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations. The Technologist is also responsible for daily operations of the patient schedule, equipment maintenance, equipment failure reporting and quality assessment. Must maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self–motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. This position requires the Technologist to be registered by ARRT to perform breast sonographic procedures. Breast ultrasound experience preferred, but not required. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Perform all mammographic and breast ultrasound procedures through proper technique selection according to department policy and procedure. This includes providing services on weekends, holidays, and other times as determined by management. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Receives requests, checking for special instructions from the requesting physicians; consults with Radiologists as necessary. Completes required documentation of patient history Completes examination and billing as required. Documents technical observations for each procedure and obtains assistance as needed. Evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician. REQUIREMENTS: * Graduate of an AMA accredited program for Radiology Technologists is required. * Certified in Radiological Technology, by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), is required. * Certification in mammography, by the ARRT, is required. * Certification in breast ultrasound, by the ARRT, is required within one year ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: * Exceptional professional communication with patients. * Exceptional patient care skills. * Exceptional customer service skills. * Strong eye-hand coordination. PREFERRED JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: * Competency in all areas of specialty offered at LG. * Three (3) years of experience as a Mammography Technologist. * Bi-lingual in Spanish.
