Job Summary:
The Allina Health Internal Resource Pool (IRP) Team is an internal team of Surgical Techs who float within their specialty to multiple different sites in multi-week assignments throughout our system hospitals.
Members of the IRP team are highly skilled, adaptable, affirmative, adept at working autonomously, and demonstrate strong teamwork in many different work settings.
Key Position Details:
This opportunity will initially support Operating Rooms units at both Abbott Northwestern Hospital and United Hospital to expand to multiple sites throughout our system.
Multi-week FTE assignments
Flexible shifts and variable FTE's available
Weekend requirements depend upon the assignment

Job Description:
Participates in providing care to patients undergoing surgical intervention, including identifying, assembling and facilitating use of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies to assist the surgical team. Tasks are supervised by Registered Nurse and delegated by the surgeon. May also perform in the sterile processing function as needed. As part of Allina Health's Internal Resource Pool, you will be expected to work at multiple Allina Health sites.
Principle Responsibilities
Participates as a surgical team member.
Prepares the OR and sets up for procedures.
Identifies supplies, instruments and equipment needed.
Maintains safe environment for patient and other staff, using electrical equipment and instruments correctly.
Follows aseptic technique standards of practice.
Complies with regulatory requirements for point of use care of instruments.
Handles medications and specimens following policies/procedures.
Assists the physician in the scrub role during surgical procedures.
Maintains a sterile field.
Anticipates needs for instruments, equipment, and other supplies.
Performs sponge, sharps and other counts accurately.
Accounts for all instruments and items on the field.
Communicates to physician and circulator when needs arise during the surgical intervention.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Licenses/Certifications
Must meet ONE of the requirements below within 1 year of hire:
Certified Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) Certification
Must meet ONE of the requirements below:
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Current BLS certification from American Red Cross
Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire
