Surgical Technologist 2 Inova Loudoun Main OR

The renowned Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join the Operating Room team in a full-time capacity. Our hospital's newly renovated and expanded surgical center features 8 state-of-the-art operating suites, two special procedure rooms, and the latest technology in minimally invasive robotic surgery. It is a fast-paced environment that focuses on strong teamwork and patient safety. This position is full-time day shift role.

The Surgical Technologist 2 demonstrates advanced knowledge of anatomy and is able to anticipate the required instrumentation for each step of a surgical procedure. Can demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub. Sign on bonus of up to $10,000 is available and relocation assistance to eligible Surgical Technologists.

• Expedites the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.

• Keeps the circulating nurse informed of upcoming patient care needs.

• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical technique.

• Establishes and maintains an organized sterile field and applies principles of asepsis.

• Demonstrates collaboration with other team members in planning/giving patient care.

• Serves as a resource in at least 2 specialty areas/procedures.

• Actively shares knowledge with staff regarding instrument sets/techniques and procedures.

• Performs in preceptor role for new & experienced staff in the scrub role.

• Provides working knowledge of powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation, equipment.

• Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment.

• Demonstrates responsible behavior as a healthcare professional.

• Demonstrates a willingness to critique own practice and pursues improvement opportunities.

• Participates in at least one unit-based committee/council and/or accepts individual assignment to work on improving patient care/unit-based issues.

• Identifies variances from expected outcomes and responds to changes in patient needs.

• Demonstrates appropriate use of emergency equipment, supplies, and resources.

• Maintains sterile field during emergencies.

• Supports other projects and duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

• Preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.

• Required Experience: 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist

• Required Certification/License:

• Surgical Technologist registration required

• Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.

• BLS via AHA required

• Preferred Certification/License: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) via NCCT
