Job Summary:# The Surgical Technologist is essential to the smooth flow of the operating room. Surgical technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients.



Responsibilities:


Prepare the operating room before surgery, assist the doctors during the surgery itself, take care of the patient immediately after the operation and prepare and restock the operating room for the next surgery. # Set up instruments and equipment, prepare patients for surgery, assist the surgical team with preparations, pass instruments to doctors during surgery, assist in minor surgical tasks, use diagnostic equipment, tend to patient after surgery, reset and restock operating room. # Work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.# Possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.



Qualifications:


High School diploma or equivalent required. # Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technologists preferred One to two years as a surgical technologist preferred CST preferred

VIEW JOBS 4/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-11T00:00 The role of the PCT is cross-functional and includes secretarial and clerical duties within the role of nursing assistant under the direction of a registered nurse. # # Responsibilities: # # Assembles medical records for incoming patients to insure the inclusion of all appropriate forms. # # Applies a patient identification label to each side of every form in the medical record. # # Labels chart with patient's name, room number, physician's name and affixes allergy label, if appropriate. # # Transcribes physician's orders with strict adherence to Transcription Policy and in a neat and timely manner. # # Requests clarification for any physician's orders that are unclear from RN. # # Completes information on all forms per hospital policy. # # Notifies Resource Nurse/Primary Nurse of any lack of information. # # Scans Medical record into EMR. # # Secures record from previous admission as necessary. # # Prepares medical record for transfer and secures photocopies as needed. # # Uses fax machine to send and receive data. # # Prepares medical record for discharge, insuring medical record is complete. # # Notifies Resource Nurse/Primary Nurse of any lack of documentation at time of discharge. # # Calls patient registration with all pending discharges as orders are received. # # Enters discharge into computer when patient has left nursing unit. # # Notifies appropriate physicians of any consultations, discharges, transfers, or expirations. # # Answers telephone and relays information to appropriate persons. # # After business hours and on weekends/holidays, performs function of medical records clerk; locates and delivers medical records to ED physicians. # # Carries out Body Substance Isolation in all patient care to protect self and others. # # Give complete bath/partial bed baths, assists the patient to bath or shower, gives tepid sponge baths, assists the patient with Sitz bath. # # Gives backrubs, takes care of patients hair, including shampooing. # # Takes care of patient's teeth, dentures, nails, feet and shaves patient. # # Stores hearing aides, dentures and eyeglasses, and other valuables safely and in accordance with Hospital Valuables Policy. # # Assists patients in and out of chair, bed wheelchair, stretcher, etc. # # Makes bed, both occupied and unoccupied; changes linen as necessary. # # Assists with treatments as appropriate within scope of responsibility. # # Assists with meals and nourishment including water and fluids; feeds patients as necessary. # # Initiates or performs CPR in an emergency situation. # # Attends mock code classes. # # Performs indwelling catheter care, applies Texas catheters. # # Observes, reports, measures and records urinary output feces and emesis on the unit-specific documentation tool. # # Applies ice bags and collars, warm or cold un-sterile compresses. # # Takes and records weights, temperatures, pulse respirations and blood pressure on unit-specific documentation tool. # # Gives appropriate enemas. # # Collects specimens and records information on unit-specific documentation tool. # # Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients. # # Performs skin care including Incontinence and Decubitus after assessment and as directed by RN. # # Observes patients on 1:1 or close observation status. # # Applies protective and therapeutic devices. # # Assists with placement of Blanketrol. # # Assists with post mortem care. # # Attach patients to cardiac monitors. # # Reports any untoward or unusual occurrences to charge nurse. # # After completion of restraint education and under the direction of RN, may apply and/or assist in restraining patients. # # Considers patient's safety at all times. # # Reports faulty equipment immediately and in accordance with Hospital Policy. # # Reports unsafe conditions and/or incidents as they occur. # # Maintains patient's rooms in an neat and orderly manner with a clear walk-in area. # # Safely transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher. # # After business hours and on weekend/holidays, performs function of ECG technician. # # Greets physicians, obtains medical records, and offers assistance within scope of responsibility. # # Answer's physician's page when he/she is on the unit and relays messages accurately. # # Greets patients and visitors and assists as necessary. # # Answers patient call lights and conveys messages to appropriate nurse. # # Keeps Resource Nurse/Primary Nurse informed of incoming reports, new orders and other messages. # # Secures needed services as requested. # # Maintains communication with Patient Registration. # # Cooperates with all other departments in promoting effective coordination of patient care. # # Orders and maintains all supplies for unit in a cost effective manner. # # Orients new personnel as requested. # # Recognizes and utilizes appropriate chain of command. # # Relieves in other nursing units as necessary. # # Maintains confidentiality and respects patient's privacy at all times. # # Qualifications: # ╖######## High School graduate or equivalent.
