It takes a skilled team of surgical technologists tol support the wide variety of surgery services we offer to the community of Sherwood. We're actively connecting with Surgical Technicians who are interested in joining our already established team.

  • Responsibilities*

  • Expectations: *

  • Checks case cart and gathers instrument and supply needs prior to surgical procedure.

  • Assists in hemostasis as directed by sponging, clamping, ligating, removing clamps, cutting sutures, using the electrocoagulation unit and suctioning.

  • Assist in the reduction of fractures by stabilizing and keeping the bone in alignment during the application of screws, pins, intramedullary rods, implants and/or while the bone is being drilled.

  • Performs ongoing procedural assessment during procedures/therapies

  • Observes patient responses toward procedure and inform appropriate personnel for any untoward reactions.

  • Complies to all infection control policies and procedures identified in the departmental manual including but not limited to: Universal Precautions, Transmission-based Precautions, TB control in the O.R., Departmental Dress Code, Controlling Traffic, Maintaining positive pressure in the O.R., Maintaining acceptable room temperatures, etc.

  • Qualifications*

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved surgical technology program

  • OR graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing with attendance of the core curriculum for perioperative nursing or equivalent training, and licensed to practice in the State of Arkansas

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Must be able to rotate taking surgical call (weeknights / weekends).

CHI St. Vincent North in Sherwood opened in October 1999. The hospital offers private rooms and serves the community with 24 hour emergency service. More than 200 coworkers and physicians at the facility provide medical care for Sherwood, North Little Rock, Jacksonville and surrounding communities. We share the campus with CHI St. Vincent Rehabilitation Hospital. In 2019 we relocated the Arkansas Neurosciences Institute from the Infirmary in Little Rock to our North campus. We have experienced, compassionate physicians and nurses on staff in our emergency room who specialize in emergency medicine. We offer heart services to include care for ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), which is caused by a blockage of blood flow to the heart and requires timely treatment. Responsibilities Surgery can be very scary for a patient. It's our job to make sure surgical areas are ready for use when needed. Our Surg Techs ensure that the operating areas are sterile and clean while confirming all equipment needed works properly.
