Surgical Technician Certified (CST) for Trauma/ OR Full Time, 36 hours per week,
7a-7:30p with weekend and call rotation
We are looking for a Certified Surgical Tech to join our awesome Trauma/Surgery Team to work with our outstanding physicians and staff to provide excellent care to a wide array of patients requiring surgical intervention.Previous scrub experience preferred with major trauma center experience being a plus! BLS -Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification via the American Heart Association and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required upon hire.
Terre Haute Regional Hospital (THRH) is a 278-bed Level II Trauma Center. Regional is the only full-service hospital in the area accredited by The Join Commission and has provided quality care for the local community for 135 years.
Recent additions include a multi-million dollar investment in staff and infrastructure to bring the Level-II Trauma Center to the Wabash Valley region - the highest level of care available in a 75-mile radius. What will you be doing?
The Surgical Technician performs set up of the sterile surgical field using aseptic technique, utilizing knowledge of Human Anatomy and Physiology and the physician's preferences for surgical instrumentation, suturing, passing, dissecting, retracting, and closing. of surgical wounds and assists the OR circulating RN with the operating room set up, equipment and positioning of the surgical patient The surgical technician must follow AORN Preoperative Standards and Recommended Practices and follows the established Policies set by Terre Haute Regional Hospital Healthcare Organization
Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:
Graduate from a surgical technologies program or completed a surgical technology program provided by the United States Army, Navy, Air Force Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, or the commissioned corps of the United States Public Health Service. Exception to this would be an individual practicing surgical technology during the twelve-month period immediately following the completion of a degree from an accredited school for surgical technology.
Active Certified Surgical Technologist Credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
Current certification in Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work in stressful situations in a fast paced environment
Completes 15 continuing education credits concerning surgical technology annually.
