Serving the greater Stanislaus County with 423 plus acute care beds, Memorial Medical Center provides a full continuum of care including 24-hour emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, nuclear medicine, dialysis therapy, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, physical therapy, and home health. Specialized care includes Memorial Regional Cancer Center and Memorial Heart Institute.
The Surgical Services Scheduling Clerk/Secretary performs computer scheduling of surgical procedures, answers telephones, communicates messages appropriately, maintains Surgical Services (OR) records, and provides clerical and receptionist support to the department. The Surgical Services Scheduling Clerk/Secretary is responsible for greeting physicians, representatives from sales companies, patients, and other hospital employees. The Surgical Services Scheduling Clerk/Secretary also processes mail, acts as a secretary to assigned OR RN Coordinators, and coordinates working on special projects, and data collection with staff RN's.
High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
Minimum of one (1) year computer experience.
Knowledge of basic clerical duties.
Prior experience in customer service with demonstration of excellent customer service skills.
One (1) year prior experience in scheduling patient encounters in an acute care facility; OR, two (2) years prior experience as a medical assistant, or equivalent role, scheduling appointments.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of unit specific age criteria for patient population.
Completion of a course in Medical Terminology or must be completed within one (1) year of hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics.
The ability to accurately type a minimum of twenty-five (25) words per minute.
Ability to read, write, hear and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.
Must be able to travel in and out of Stanislaus County, including transcontinental travel. If MMC and/or own vehicle used on hospital business, must possess valid California Driver's License and upon request proof of liability insurance.
Prior experience scheduling for Surgical Services
Computer experience on a medically based system.
