Job Summary

The Surgical Scrub Technician III is a certified staff member that works under the direct supervision of the registered nursing staff, the surgeon and anesthesia team acting as a primary scrub person. Handles the surgical instruments, supplies and necessary equipment during surgical procedures. Possesses the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure safe, quality patient care during the operative procedure. Maintains expertise in several specialties and precepts for specialty development.

Pay Range

Minimum $31.85 Midpoint $42.21 Maximum $52.55

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

  • Required: Minimum four years of operating room experience.

  • Preferred: Pediatric surgery/ special procedures experience and expertise in at least 2 specialties.

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Graduate of Surgical Technology program or military service training.

  • Preferred: College coursework with Associate or Bachelor's degree.

Specialized Skills

  • Required: Able to relate and communicate (in English) professionally with others; respect policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; accept direction. Think critically; work independently; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work collaboratively with surgical team and in setting up and cleaning between cases. Manages multiple tasks and assignments; able to lead scrub techs, ORAs and Anesthesia Techs to accomplish patient safety/care and patient through put; work on special projects, i.e., with SPD on instrument tray purging/ development.

Licensure

  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Certified Surgical Tech (or achieved within one year of hire or transfer).
