As a Surgical Scheduler you will:

  • Schedule procedure and testing for patients, coordinating date and time; and coordinate special procedure needs.

  • Gather patient and procedure information.

  • Prepare and distribute schedules and work closely with physicians and office administration to schedule and maximize utilization of time.

  • Obtain pre-certification and authorization from various insurance carriers to facilitate maximum utilization and efficiency and minimal procedure-related problems. Complete referrals and pre-certifications for patients according to insurance requirements.

  • Oversee the registration and checkout process and the handling of medical records to assure efficient flow of patients through the office.

  • Review with physician routine issues, difficulties and unusual circumstances. Handles promptly patient problems/complaints.

  • Perform all medical receptionist duties, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, filing information into medical records, checking patients in and out, collecting co-pays and fees from patients and completing computer and paperwork associated with these functions.

  • Oversee the filing of information into medical records, the preparation, pulling and filling of charts and the purging of charts for effective record management.


  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • One year medical office or hospital setting experience required

  • Strong communication skills required

  • Occasional physical demands include: Standing , Walking , Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders) , Carry objects , Push/Pull , Twisting , Bending , Reaching forward , Reaching overhead , Squat/kneel/crawl

  • Continuous physical demands include: Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 10 lbs.

VIEW JOBS 3/14/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-12T00:00 Overview Position #: 10422 Responsibilities * Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, which includes passing instruments, sutures and other items appropriate to the procedure. Assists the surgeon by retracting tissue, holding instrumentation to provide exposure and cutting suture under the direct supervision of the surgeon. * Establishes and maintains an organized sterile field. Selects proper sterilization methods for instruments and equipment: sterilizes prior to procedure, and verifies instruments are sterile. * Adheres to policies and procedures in aseptic techniques. Takes corrective action when any unsafe practice, conditions or break in aseptic technique observed and reports information to the circulating nurse. * Assists with pulling cases and checks case cart for completeness, obtains supplies and equipment and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins. * Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments and sutures based on scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card. * Follows policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up back table, draping and counting with the circulating nurse. * Performs scrub assistance for all procedures. * Assists the circulating nurse with implementing a plan of care to include positioning, confirmation of operative site, updating physician preference cards, care of specimens, and room turnover. * Accounts for instruments, trays, implants, before during and after the case. Begins Sterilizing process while in the surgical suite by counting for completeness of tray, initiating cleansing/sterilizing process. * Has access to supplies in medication storage areas, including needles and syringes. Requirements * High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion/Graduate of a New Jersey approved/accredited program for surgical technicians. * One year of work experience in healthcare surgical services preferred; Specialty surgical services may require specific training, experience, knowledge, and skills. * Certification from Nationally recognized body for Surgical Technician preferred. * Frequent physical demands include: Standing , Walking , Carry objects , Push/Pull , Twisting , Bending , Reaching forward , Reaching overhead , Squat/kneel/crawl , Wrist position deviation , Pinching/fine motor activities , Talk or Hear Capital Health Pennington NJ
