The successful candidate:

Under the direction of the supervising/collaborating physician, the Advanced Practice Provider delivers professional surgical services, within the appropriate scope of practice, as determined by the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants or the State Board of Nursing, the Western Regional Medical Center (WRMC) medical staff rules and regulations, and the WRMC administrative direction. The Advanced Practice Provider is the agent of the respective physicians for any medical services (within the physician's scope of practice) that are delegated by that physician and that are; within the Advanced Practice Provider scope of practice and are delineated by protocols, practice guidelines, or practice directives established by the supervising/collaborating physician.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

• Minimum of 18 months as an Advanced Practice Provider in a surgical specialty or commensurate training/experience.

Education

• Physician Assistant

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Training Program

• Nurse Practitioner

• Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP)

• Completion of a program that covers the content of the AORN Standards for Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) education programs as a standalone program or a portion of a graduate or postgraduate program or APRN actively practicing as a RNFA prior to January 1, 2016.

Licensure

• Licensed/certified and eligible to practice as Physician Assistant in the State of Arizona OR
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Arizona

Certification

• American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS)
• American Heart Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS)
• Evidence of application for DEA certificate must be provided upon hire and obtained within 90 days of hire. Certification should be maintained thereafter unless waived by department/division.

Special Skills

Training

• Minimum of 18 months of first assisting, suturing, and laparoscopy experience or commensurate training/experience.
