Job Description:

Responsiblefor delivering direct patient care by answering and managing phones, directingand assisting visitors, assisting staff and organizing paperwork and documents.Provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and family of the

Surgical Services unit. 1. Responsiblefor being present at the Concierge Desk and for ensuring coverage for breaks,meal periods, etc. Provides coverage for ASC or PACU as directed by BusinessCoordinator.
2.Responsiblefor the proper greeting and unit orientation of all visitors and staff to unit,guidelines for visiting and maintaining a healing environment and explainingamenities available.
3.Conductscheck-in process, including updating of patient demographics directly on theunit and updates the clinical information system.
4.Responsiblefor answering and directing calls to the appropriate team members. Updatespatients and care partners in a timely fashion. Advocates for patient/ carepartners through communication with clinical staff.
5.Maintainscontinuous communication between ASC, OR and PACU in order to update carepartners of status and delays.
6.Workswith and oversees the activities of the volunteers stationed at the visitor'sdesk in ASC waiting area. Trains new volunteers to activities of the ASCwaiting area desk.
7.Notesand tracks details of care partners ie., contact number, location of waiting,arrangements for discharge, etc.
8.ReviewsOR schedule, patient info and procedures, while maintaining HIPAA.
9.Handout business cards with contact information, encourages care partners to callif needs arise.
10. Walks care partnersinto PACU when requested by PACU nurse.
11. Acts as witness forsignatures to patient request for health care proxy and power of attorney.
12. Works with theclinical and support team to understand patient movement. Actively views thepatient tracker to ensure the accurate location of patients on the unit as wellas throughout Surgical Services

Qualifications

  • High School Diplomaor equivalent, required.

  • Previous knowledgeand experience with Clinical Systems preferred.

  • Bilingual in secondlanguage, Spanish preferred.

Previous knowledge and experience with softwaresystems, including Microsoft Office required.

VIEW JOBS 10/10/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-08T00:00 Job Description The Practice Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of instrumentation decontamination, sterilization, packaging, inventory, and distribution tasks according to established system-wide sterile processing policies and procedures. 1. Retrieves used trays, instruments and equipment from various surgical and clinical areas. 2. References manufacturer's instructions for use to ensure proper sterilization of various types of instrumentation. 3. Dissembles and decontaminates reusable instruments and equipment. 4. Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures. 5. Wears protective apparel when performing decontamination procedures. 6. Inspects and ensures processed instrumentation and patient care equipment is sterile and functional according to quality control protocols. Communicates issues to supervisor and/or bio-medical engineer. 7. Assembles and packages supplies according to specifications. * Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts. * Covers and rotates trays and sets per sterile storage guidelines. 8. Dispenses sterile supplies to assigned surgical and clinical locations. Collaborates with perioperative staff regarding related instrument needs. 9. Performs required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment. 10. Assists in ordering, stocking and maintaining department inventory levels. 11. Documents and maintains records of daily activities according to system-wide sterile processing policies and procedures. 12. Adheres to AORN, AAMI and Joint Commission standards (e.g. biological, chemical and mechanical monitoring) in the performance of duties. 13. Participates in department quality control programs and in-service training, as required. 14. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications * High School Diploma or equivalent, required. * Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD), required. * Must complete minimum annual continuing education credits required by NY State AND additional continuing education credits required to maintain certification status. * Prior experience processing surgical instrumentation, preferred. * Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, required. Ability to stand, bend, lift and/or reach for extended periods of time, required. * Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and/or written instructions, required.
