Description:
The surgical aide provides care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, surgical patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. As a member of the surgical team, helps to provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. The surgical nurse aide assists in the implementation of the AORN Standards of Care, Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa and Operating Room Policies and Procedures.
Hourly Pay Range: $12.66 - $17.50
Hours: Flexible hours. Typically, 6:30 a.m.
JOB SUMMARY
Th surgical aide provides care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, surgical patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. As a member of the surgical team, helps to provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. The surgical aide assists in the implementation of the AORN Standards of Care, Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa and Operating Room Policies and Procedures, including cleaning of operating rooms, positioning of patients, transportation of patients and replenishment of supplies.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education: High school diploma required. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support training (can be trained on-site for BLS).
Encouraged, but not required:
Experience Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes Ability to work flexible hours. Must have basic computer skills.
Ability to meet departmental "on call" requirements. Demonstrates ability to understand and follow directions. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
