The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordination of clerical, scheduling duties and phone calls. Also responsible for coordination of registering patients, as necessary.
This is a full-time position working M-F from 8:00 am
A $500.00 sign-on bonus will be offered: $250.00 to be paid out after completing 3 months of employment and $250.00 to be paid out after completing 6 months of employment. Internal applicants are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for accurately scheduling surgeries/procedures, notifying patients of any time changes
Update insurance information as appropriate and ensure updates get on patient's chart
Work in conjunction with Physicians and Manager on block scheduling and utilization
Work with the Patient Services Representative's team on the flow of the schedule to maintain smooth work flow of the day
Assist in training new staff in scheduling as necessary
Communicate equipment availability to team on a weekly basis
Report occurrences through the center's established occurrence reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events
Foster the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, orientees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor)
Participate in acceptable continuing education, fostering career and skill development including meeting departmental continuing education requirements
Maintain strong, interpersonal relationships, professionalism and communication with all physician office schedulers and other coworkers
Assist in managing controllable costs by the proper, non-wasteful use of Surgery Center resources
Actively participate in Quality projects. Identify issues and assist in collection of data for Quality purposes
Contribute personally to the "team oriented" environment by demonstrating cooperative, constructive, problem-solving interaction with all Surgery Center employees
Participates in department/team meetings
Serve as backup for the Patient Services Representative as needed
Any and all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School diploma/GED or equivalent
Two years' experience in related field
Medical technology knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities, while achieving results in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
Work in the clinic, office or surgery center during business hours
Travel independently throughout the clinic, office or surgery center (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Understand and execute a variety of instructions
Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
Work independently with minimal supervision
Travel to other work locations, if required
