Job Description:

The Surgery Coding Associate is responsible for providing surgery coding expertise and advice. This role is responsible for supporting practices in the area of surgical coding as well as other specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Advise practices and the RCM team on best practice surgery coding and provide coding support to practices.

  • Analyze data, identify issues, reach conclusions, and propose strategies for resolution of complex coding issues, along with leadership. Meet with physicians to train on new lines of business and advise on charge capture workflows.

  • Responsible for researching billing and coding guidelines for multiple surgical sub-specialties. Advise the OneOncology team and partners practices of coding changes.

  • Keep informed regarding current billing and coding regulations, auditing, professional standards and effectively apply and disseminate this knowledge.

  • Provide coding education and training as required.

  • Identifies process improvement opportunities that enhances the performance of the department/practice.

  • Partners with the management team to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

  • Review medial documentation for accuracy related to payer medical record requests as needed.

  • Ability to effectively code several multiple specialties including medical oncology, radiation oncology, imaging, gyn surgery, breast surgery, pathology among others.

  • Other duties as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.

Qualifications

  • CPC or other coding certification required

  • 2+ years of surgery coding experience required

  • Oncology coding experience preferred

  • Demonstrated success in using data to make decisions and drive behavior change in support organizations
