A WS-5801-15, SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR:
Plans overall allocation of personnel and resources for the organization. Ensures accomplishment of work operations with because of their scope, volume, and complexity are planned on a year or longer basis.
Explains work requirement to subordinate supervisors, sets deadlines and sequence of operations.
Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and reviews personnel actions prepared by supervisors.
Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.
Prepared for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
Other duties as assigned.

Military Grades: O3-O4
Compatible Military Assignments: 88A, 90A, 91A & 92A Series
Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the MOS to apply or be considered for selection. Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain MOS within 1 year of appointment action.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
All soldiers, civilian employees, and contractor employees who drive Army-owned or leased vehicles must complete the Army Avoidance Course (AAC) training when they start working for the Army. Must have a valid Washington state and military driver's license. Must be able to obtain a Government Travel Card (GTC) and be able to attend all schools deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Must maintain membership in the WA National Guard for continued employment.
Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
Must have at least 36 months experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems.
In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
High School Diploma or GED.
