SUMMARY

A brief description summarizing the overall purpose and objectives of the position and the results the worker is expected to accomplish.

The Surface Landman Intern works as part of a team and performs individual tasks to assist the Surface Land Team. The Surface Landman Intern will work with the Surface Landman and/or Surface Landman Team Lead to understand and assist the team in the wellsite preparation process, specifically notification to landowners, staking, surveying, and permitting of wellsite locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the position that are most important to get the job done.

Assist department with research analysis; Utilize various web based tools to research potential oil and gas locations; Gather and verify data and enter it into spreadsheets and databases; Assist Surface Landman with negotiations and documentation required to secure and release surface locations; Develop an entry level understanding of interpreting, negotiating and preparing Surface Land related contracts, such as: ROW, Easements, Waivers, Surface Use Agreement and related documents; Develop understanding of county, state and federal regulatory rules and procedures in Texas; Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects; All other duties as identified by the supervisor.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The environment in which the job is performed, especially any unique conditions outside a normal office environment.

Consistent with of a normal office environment/field setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum level of education, experience, and certifications required to perform the job.

Enrollment in college/university, with a preference in Energy Management or Law; Completion of at least Sophomore year (Juniors, Seniors and graduate students preferred); Ability to work full time over the summer; Minimum of a 3.0 GPA; Strong interest in making a positive impact in the Oil and Gas industry.

The Surface Landman is responsible for specific duties surrounding all surface land functions and is required to have a strong working knowledge of the land business, including current oil and gas rules and regulations in the State of Texas. This position needs to understand the wellsite preparation process, specifically staking, surveying, and permitting of wellsite locations and is responsible for the negotiation of surface use agreements, rights-of-way and addressing all landowner concerns. The incumbent provides PDC Operations with the necessary pipeline rights-of-way and necessary surface agreements to support completion activity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the position that are most important to get the job done. Negotiation of surface use agreements, rights-of-way and associated surface use payments; Coordinate surveying, staking and timely receipt of survey plats; Coordinate vendor's installation, use and removal of temporary water equipment; Ensure that all pre-spud surface related issues have been resolved in timely manner; Serve as company liaison with landowners, local, county, state and federal regulatory agencies; Coordinate and collaborate with technical peers and other departments in support of company's operations; Coordinate and lead public meetings with surface and building unit owners in compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies; Direct the efforts of contract Surface Landmen; Work with local, State and Federal regulatory agencies to provide necessary information in order to comply with the regulatory requirements to permit; All duties as identified by the supervisor; Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects. Minimum of 3+ years' experience in progressive Land related work; 4 year degree preferred with a preference in Land Management or Law; Registered Landman (RL) certification or RPL preferred.
