We are seeking resumes for a Production Supervisor in our Hexacomb Kalamazoo facility.

Hexacomb is a leader in kraft paper-based honeycomb protective packaging product and serves key industries that value product protection coupled with environmental sustainability. This includes furniture, consumer, automotive, textile, food, building products, energy, glass, and industrial. Hexacomb has nine manufacturing plants in North America.

Principle Accountabilities

Coordinate activity with the plant manager to plan and manage daily and weekly schedules to meet production goals, prioritize work orders, maintain quality requirements, and assure an even flow of work through all the departments with an increase up-time and minimize unscheduled downtime.

Schedules work, coordinates production activities, provides direct oversight of employees, approves time records, communicates and implements company policy. Engages in employee development activities, makes recommendations on employee hire, promotion and disciplinary action.

Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees.

Conduct employee training on all equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations and waste control on an ongoing basis.

Analyze production performance, identify opportunities, make recommendations for process and equipment improvement, establish and execute goals.

Supervise efficient operation of equipment including the inspection of materials, products and equipment to detect and/or prevent malfunctions.

Participate in production meeting and provide updates as needed.

Request materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services as needed.

Know and follow policies and procedures of the company, shares information that would benefit other members of the team and find ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
4 years previous experience in a supervisory capacity at a corrugated or containerboard manufacturing facility.

Previous experience in coaching, training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution.

Established knowledge of corrugated and packaging manufacturing machinery, concepts, practices, and procedures including continual improvement processes and safety practices.

Working knowledge of manufacturing systems.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing assignments, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals throughout the company on departmental procedures, policies, and requests for information.

Able to work flexible hours as needed.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with production team and management.

Previous work experience as a member of a team, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing between team members.

Major Duties Position Summary: The Production Manager will be responsible for leading department operations of the division ensuring targets and goals are met in regards to safety, quality, delivery and productivity. Position has responsibility for the leadership and management of the hourly personnel on OEM Inspection department. Driving meaningful progress in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity will be the main focus of this position. Responsibilities Supervisory responsibility includes, but is not limited to, training and developing subordinates, delegating work assignments, coaching and counseling employees, and administering disciplinary procedures. The employee has the responsibility and authority to identify the status of production materials and take action with such materials as defined in such documents as controlled plans and work instructions. Will interact with employees at all levels of the organization, customers, and outside contacts. Work with team members to identify continuous improvement opportunities. Constantly identify and eliminate waste in assigned departments. Champion Lean Kaizen events to identify cost and time savings. Participate in cost-reduction programs. Coordinate new product launches with Engineering. Ensure quality standards are met that emphasize and focus on continuous improvement in an effort to improve manufacturing capability and reduce rework and scrap. Contain source of quality issues. Communicate with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships. Coordinate corrective action activities. Perform capacity analysis using build plans. Determine staffing requirements for the assigned production area. Ensure that departmental productivity targets are met to meet customer requirements. Troubleshoot scheduling and material issues.
