The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Responsible for the operational management of his or her assigned practice pod. The successful incumbent will assume responsibility for ensuring or supporting the delivery of quality patient care to the satisfaction of patients, physicians and staff. The incumbent will remain abreast of financial and growth goals for the pod and plan for continued improvement in operating and financial performance. Provides direct patient care within Scope of Practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Other : clinical degree (RN, LVN) or MA Certification.
  • 5 Years relevant experience or management experience in relevant area for assigned pod/office practice.

Essential Functions

  • Communication

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Facilitates communications among physicians, staff, and administration.

Convenes meetings, distributes and explains memoranda, and schedules in-services as necessary.

Establishes and implements, communicates and enforces policies and procedures that address daily operations of the practice.

Ability to demonstrate diplomacy in communication and conflict resolution techniques.

  • Patient care

Provides direct patient care within Scope of Practice for patients. Duties include:

Pre-visit chart review to flag outstanding clinical issues and recommended tests and procedures per overall Pay for Performance (P4P) metrics.

Rooming patients and taking and recording vitals signs.

Completing med reconciliation and relevant patient history.

Preparation of vaccines, immunizations, and medication administration within Scope of Practice.

  • Productivity

Works closely with physician and AHP staff to make practice more efficient and effective through application of practice management analysis.

Assesses methods and processes and recommends ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Ensures practice has properly trained staff in sufficient numbers to provide effective and efficient staff coverage at all times, including back up plans for sick leave and vacation.

  • Professional/Leadership

Supports leadership and organizational strategic plan direction. Participates in the implementation of SharpCare's strategic plan.

Actively works to achieve patient service and dashboard goals and objectives; directs staff to achieve the same.

Supports and holds staff accountable to work standards and processes.

Establishes supervisorial climate that encourages teamwork and promotes collegial collaboration among all team members.

Participates as a leader or member of various committees as directed by leadership.

Maintains positive working relationships with the community, medical staff, and all levels of supervision and staff and mediates conflict successfully within pod.

Strives for continual self-improvement through professional growth and development.

  • Quality and service

Works with SharpCare resources, using process improvement methods (Lean) to better meet patient needs.

Assists with the development and revision of goals, policies, procedures or practice guidelines.

Monitors and addresses potential risk management and quality issues in a timely manner.

Addresses patient/customer complaints in an effective and timely manner.

Maintains standards of service, productivity, safety, security, and infection control.

Ensure Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record optimization within pod.

Provides administrative supervision of licensed, clinical staff (e.g., attendance, tardiness, overtime, vacation scheduling, etc.).

Collaborates in the clinical supervision and evaluation process of licensed personnel by physician staff.

Provides training and annual mandatory education, including compliance, safety, workplace issues.

Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of patient satisfaction improvement programs by reviewing and including Press Ganey scores and interventions in their weekly/monthly staff meetings. Sustain knowledge of Press Ganey software by scheduling refresher trainings with the QI Coordinator and/or Press Ganey training staff.

Handles patient complaints, referring those complaints which cannot be resolved locally to the identified quality Pod staff member.

Coordinates quality program initiatives, including but not limited to, the Pay for Performance Program as defined by the organization. This would include providing time and resources for the identified P4P medical assistant (s) by helping physicians adopt the (potential) practice pattern shifts involved with the new P4P clinical measures in order to increase compliance.

Participate in initiatives to achieve performance on quality metrics.

Input and appropriate follow-up for all unusual occurrences into the Risk Management software system for proper tracking and problem resolution.

Oversees Quality and Performance Improvement activities included Patient Centered Medical Home Accreditation, Health Plan

Audits, Clinical Pay for Performance metric adherence and improvement, and Medicare ACO requirements and work flows.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong operations and leadership skills required.

  • Human resources and financial, management processes and procedures required to effectively plan, organize and coordinate ambulatory care.

  • Organizational and planning techniques used to manage assigned areas.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical and administrative procedures, equipment, and facilities.

  • Knowledge of Federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations relating to the management and operations of physician practices.
