This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Information Officer.

The primary purpose of this position is responsibility for Information Technology (IT) program management and delivery of IT services, as well as the effective management of all resources including human capital.

As a Supv IT Specialist GS 2210 15, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Advise other IT experts throughout the

agency or in other agencies on a variety of situations and issues that involve applying or adapting new theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, or practices, that are developed by the employee or result from the employee's leadership.

  • Manage and provide guidance for an IT program or major program segment with significant resources and which has significant impact on the organization.

  • Manage and provide guidance for an IT program or major program segment with significant resources and which has significant impact on the organization under the direction of the Division Director.

  • Provide significant leadership to Branch employees, under the guidance of the Division Chief, in order to advance the OCIO mission and vision.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Specialized Experience:

You qualify for the GS-15 grade level (starting salary $134,789) if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: as providing leadership and technical supervision to subordinate personnel responsible for operations and maintenance within the Information Technology Services Office, development of next generation technology service offerings, customer relationship support, project management, contract administration and program overview. Providing administrative and policy direction in terms of broadly defined missions or functions of the agency. Planning, developing, and carrying out broad and extensive assignments of significant interest to the public and the Government.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
