Our organization is seeking an energetic collaborative leader for our Supervisor of Automation in the Power and Automation group located in Houston, Texas. This position will be responsible for leading the Atlantic Gulf Operating Area Tier III team to design and implement cost-effective automation solutions. This will include the selection, design, and implementation of DCS, PLC, and instrumentation systems. This position will lead a team of 6-8 technicians and engineers and report to the Manager of Power and Automation in the Atlantic Gulf Operating Area.

The leader must have demonstrated a consistent history of successfully leading teams through formal and informal roles while working in a matrix environment. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required to be successful in this role. The leaders should possess a strong diverse background in electrical, instrumentation and controls in an industrial environment, preferably in the oil and gas industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct team responsible for providing Tier III support in the Atlantic Gulf for pipeline automation & controls, Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers and alarm management.

  • Actively support the strategic direction to create a culture of One Williams.

  • Oversee troubleshooting, commissioning, maintenance, and Root Cause Analysis support.

  • Create a development program to expand the knowledge base within the group and increase the knowledge of subject matter experts.

  • Coordinate the workload with internal customers and the Automation Team.

  • Provide consistent constructive feedback to the Automation Team throughout the year as well as during annual performance appraisals.

  • Provide leadership to develop cost-effective and technically accurate designs, meeting the internal and external customer requirements.

  • Ensure inherently safe designs (process and operational) in support of Williams' Quad Zero initiative.

  • Develop and maintain budgets for his/her responsible area.

  • Participate in strategy planning with the ability to break these strategic plans into concrete tactical actions.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside vendors and partners.

  • Support team members in the management of outside contract personnel for design, fabrication and construction.

  • Provide QA/QC for third-party power and automation designs.

  • Review and articulate detailed engineering estimates within his/her area of responsibility.

  • Prepare/review content for equipment and engineering standards WIMS (L2) and operating procedures (L1 & L3).

  • Support Operations by providing SMEs to troubleshoot, develop preventive maintenance procedures, etc.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations & industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Four-year degree in a technical field. Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university is preferred.

  • 8+ years of diverse experience in an electrical or automation role.

  • Proven technical aptitude with ability to communicate complex topics clearly and simply.

  • Ability to collaborate and forge working partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
