Supervisor, Demand and Supply Planning

Reports to: Sr. Mgr., Sales Operations Planning

Location: Atlanta, GA

The Supervisor of Demand and Supply Planning is responsible developing and maintaining production and inventory strategies to insure compliance to minimum customer service levels, and for meeting divisional budgets. This role is responsible for all aspects of capacity, demand and supply planning for the facilities in their respective portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain mid-to-long range material planning strategies (S&OP).

  • Establish product family and SKU cycle strategies to maximize production efficiency

  • Evaluate production capabilities, costs and output rates to determine proper machine loading.

  • Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) for input into planning model

  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results

  • Accountable for meeting divisional FG and WIP inventory targets

  • Responsible for meeting expected service levels at key customers

  • Liaise with Sales, Manufacturing and other Leadership to validate feasibility of S&OP plan for each respective area, and recommend actions in response to concerns.

  • Work directly with Capacity Planning Manager to align S&OP plan to production capacity plan to insure accurate inputs to plant and divisional budgeting model.

  • Identify potential out-of-stock situations or shortage of supply issues and recommend mitigating actions.

  • Evaluate all inputs and provide sensitivities based on different scenarios

  • Conduct root cause analysis for supply issues/variances; define and implement corrective action plans to avoid reoccurrence.

  • Direct responsibility of Supply Planners

  • Hiring, development and evaluation of employees

  • Supply Planner responsibilities include all aspects of SKU-level inventory management

  • Minimization of obsolete and aged material

  • Insure minimum required order fulfillment levels are met

  • Responsible for communicating near-term demand requirements to Supply Chain to insure ongoing raw material supply.

  • Maintain S&OP planning tools. Leverage system-based solutions to optimize planning activities where applicable

  • Prepare, maintain and present relevant reports pertaining to S&OP process

  • Conduct regular business and performance reviews with Sales, Manufacturing and other Leadership within organization

  • Identify and implement supply chain cost savings and value-added activities where appropriate

  • Self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision

  • Continuous and versatile learner

  • Advanced Microsoft Office user, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong mathematical aptitude

  • Some travel will be required (15 to 20%)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree level education in General Business, Supply Chain, Mathematics or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in a Supply Chain function that includes demand, supply and inventory planning.

  • APICS CPIM certification preferred

  • Experience in Paperboard Packaging a plus
