HOACNY provides cancer care services, Monday through Friday, day hours at three convenient locations in East Syracuse, Syracuse and Auburn. Supportive Services Medical Assistant

Performs a variety of patient care and administrative duties to assist Supportive and Genetic Providers.

Requirements

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong organization skills, motivated, detail oriented, time-management and self-directed.

Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Knowledge of the principles and skills needed to provide patient care and treatment.

Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in using various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.

Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards.

Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret adapts and applies guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.

Experience: One-year experience as a Medical Assistant/Office experience.

Certificate and licensure: Medical Assistant certification desired. CPR certification required.
