We are seeking a growth minded, talented individual to serve as a Support Worker in our North Bend ODHS Self Sufficiency office.

What you need to qualify

Two years of experience either interviewing to obtain personal or technical information or substantial people contact. This experience must have involved a high volume of paperwork (e.g., assuring information on forms is complete and accurate, completing necessary documents, etc.).

College-level courses may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Your Duties at a Glance

Within our local office, a Support Staff member frequently becomes Oregonians' initial point of contact. In addition to handling finance desk duties, this position is vital for creating a warm and inviting environment for families at our front desk and community-based service locations. To deliver excellent customer service, all work is done with a trauma-informed perspective. In addition to serving families in need of our services, you will support the office framework by performing daily operational responsibilities.

You will work directly with Oregonians to help with online Oregon Eligibility system applications for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), and Medicaid by phone and/or in person to resolve any questions or concerns.

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Treat customers, stakeholders, partners, vendors, and co-workers with dignity and respect.

  • Create a welcoming environment for the public with friendly, respectful, professional, and courteous service.

  • Manage incoming mail and multiple email accounts.

  • Process administrative tasks in ONE system related to eligibility.

  • Explain agency notices, case and benefit issuance stats as requested by clients.

  • Explain branch procedures, including such things as applying for benefits, and providing documentation.

  • Continuous improvement and personal development

Working conditions

  • Work schedule is Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm on-site at the N Bend ODHS branch office with occasional travel to perform outreach and provide coverage for the Curry county office.

  • Experience constant contact with the public, including contact with customers experiencing emotional and financial stress.

  • Experience high volume of computer work, using various computer programs in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Priorities and procedures may change daily and requires the ability to be flexible in application of procedures.
