Job Summary:
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Health Information Management (HIM) is seeking a Support Services Specialist, full time, Monday through Friday, to perform duties in the Record Processing division of HIM. This position will train Health Information Management Department (HIMD) Record Processing staff regarding uploading of medical record, creating Referrals, and MyChart proxy processing. Process adoption requests. Maintain training materials and tip sheets for Record Processing. Process checks and complete eDeposit via Wells Fargo Desktop Deposit and eDeposit via Employee Self Service. This position is eligible to participate in remote work. Remote work must be performed at an offsite location within the State of Iowa. Training will be held ONSITE at the HSSB building at a length determined by the supervisor. Remote eligibility will be evaluated upon satisfactory job training. Successful candidates must comply with the requirements of the remote work program and related policies.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Trains medical record document uploading/scanning of internal and external received via paper or electronically, Referral creation, and MyChart processing to HIM staff.
Scans/uploads and QA's internal and external medical record documents received both on paper and electronically. Create Referral in Epic
Communicate appropriately with clinical departments regarding medical recordsreceived and uploaded
Investigates and resolves adoptions
Process MyChart Proxy applications
Maintain the confidentiality of patient information, including electronic data
Scan and deposit checks with the Wells Fargo Desktop and eDeposit on Employee Self Service
Answer multi-line phone
Maintain tip sheets and reference materials for Record Processing Staff
Performs other projects and tasks as assigned
This position location is in Coralville, IA and eligible to participate in remote work. Remote work must be performed at an offsite location within the State of Iowa. Training will be held ONSITE at the Health Care Support Services (HSSB) building at a length determined by the supervisor. Remote eligibility will be evaluated upon a satisfactory job training and meeting required performance standards. Successful candidates must comply with requirements of the remote work program and related policies. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, business administration or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary
1 year experience working with medical records/health information
Knowledge and proficiency with computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
3 or more years working with medical records/health information.
Experience working in a hospital or clinic setting
Knowledge and experience with Epic Clinical Documentation system
Knowledge or experience with Epic Medical Record Tracking system
Knowledge of UI Health Care policies and procedures
Certification as RHIT or RHIA
